Guide
What to watch tonight
Start from the evening you have, not from a genre you feel you ought to like.
Time decides film or TV
If you have about two hours and want a clean ending, stay on Film. A TV show draw is better when you might want another episode, or when the room cannot agree on a two-hour commitment. RFG does not know your bedtime. You do. The kind switch is the first control because everything after it searches a different catalog.
One genre, unless you mean it
Two genres are combined with “and”, not “or”. Action and Adventure is a reasonable pair. Action and Documentary usually is not, and the draw will say so by returning nothing. If the first draw is empty, drop back to one genre before you touch the year range.
Score floors
Any is the default because a floor of 8+ throws out a lot of recent and odd titles that are still worth a night. Use 7+ when you want fewer duds and still a wide pool. Use 8+ or 9+ when you are happy to see the same well-known titles more often. There is a longer note on what those numbers do and do not mean in how to read an IMDb score.
Subscriptions
If you only have one service tonight, set Platform to that service and Where you watch to your country. You will get fewer cards, and they are more likely to open somewhere you can press play. If you have three or four services, leave Platform on Any, draw, and use the Watch on row. Rent and Buy are labelled on purpose. They are not included in your monthly fee.
After the draw
Open the trailer from the top card before you open Full details. If you have seen it, tick Watched while you are signed in so it does not come back next week. If you might watch it later, Save it. Films and shows are stored apart, and a named list is there when “watch later” is too vague for a trip or a person you watch with.
Redraw only after you change something. The same filters can repeat titles that are still unwatched. That is the pool, not a bug.
